Seaside Taverns

Seaside Taverns

ELEMENT │ PLACE

Seaside taverns are taverns located on a coast. Fictional seaside taverns, or a version of them, are also frequently found in worlds on rivers, lakes, or other ‘sea-like’ elements like sand seas or grass seas. These taverns are places where fishermen, dockworkers, sailors, and the occasional smuggler may congregate after a day’s work. They may be places where old sea dogs tell stories of legendary pirates, lost treasures, and of seeing leviathans, cryptids, or other sea monsters. They may be located in docks areas, in ports, or in shipwreck towns and raft towns. They may be decorated with fishing nets, prized catches, anchors, and crab traps.

Synonyms: dockside bars, shoreside watering holes
Example Mythonyms: the Drunken Mermaid, the Kraken, the Fish n’ Rod
