Seaside Taverns

Seaside Taverns

Seaside taverns (synonyms: dockside bars, shoreside watering holes; example mythonyms: the Drunken Mermaid; the Kraken; the Fish n’ Rod) are taverns located on a sea or ocean (rivers, lakes, or other sea-like elements like sand seas and grass seas also often host seaside taverns). They are establishments where fishermen, dockworkers, sailors, and the occasional pirate may congregate after a day’s work. They may be places where old sea dogs tell stories of legendary pirates, lost treasures, and of seeing leviathans, cryptids, or other sea monsters. They may be located in docks areas, in ports, or in shipwreck towns and raft towns. They may be decorated with fishing nets, prized catches, anchors, and crab traps.
