Raft Towns
Raft towns are floating fictional towns found in the open ocean, lake, or river or anchored to the coast or coastal terrain element [sea stacks; stone arches, islands]. Generally, the buildings and livable areas of raft towns are constructed from ships, docks, walkways, and other floating material all lashed together. They are common elements in pirate worlds, fantasy worlds, and post-apocalyptic worlds. Raft towns are similar to shipwreck towns, with the main differences being that raft towns are either entirely or mostly floating and that not all of the ships used to construct a raft town are wrecks. Raft towns may move around the sea, or they may be anchored to a single location. They may have extensive dock networks, seaside taverns, lighthouses, and fish shambles.
