Flooding Chamber Traps
Flooding chamber traps are a type of trap or trap room where a chamber or room locks behind adventurers or victims and slowly begins to flood with water. This water may rise from grates on the floor or may pour in from pipes in the ceiling in a waterfall-like cascade. Adventurers may only have a matter of seconds to either stop the rising waters or find a means to escape.

Overview
The rate at which the rooms fills may be an important consideration as a slower rate can increase tension in a narrative while a faster filling trap becomes deadlier more quickly. As victims may be able to swim, an appreciation of the rooms layout in three dimensions is important as trapped individuals may rise alongside the rising waters (until they reach whatever ceiling there may be).
Variations of the flooding chamber trap usually include the room being filled with other liquids or materials that act like liquid, including acid, lava, sand, or corrosive or poisonous gas. In these cases, adventurers may need to climb fast to avoid the dangerous substance.
