Farms

Farms

ELEMENT │ PLACE

Farms are locations where food is grown, and livestock is reared. Farms are necessary to feed a population (though they are often overlooked by worldbuilders who may favor large cities). Farms may have barns, silos, windmills, animal pens, duck ponds, orchards, gardens, storm cellars, grazeland and crop fields. They may be located on floodplains, near rivers, in valleys, or on other fertile areas. There may be towns or villages nearby. In fantasy worlds, farms may be sites of quests. In solarpunk and cyberpunk worlds they may be tended to by robots. In worlds with a war element, farms are often battlefield areas. Farms are home to farm animals, farmers, and aliens who have crash-landed.

Synonyms: farmsteads, farmlands
Example Mythonyms: the Dunn Farmstead, McCreary Farm, Old Joe’s Farm
