Dock Networks
Dock networks are a system of interconnected piers, jetties, and walkways used to moor vessels and facilitate passenger and cargo transfer. Dock networks may be used at ocean harbors or, for more fantastic worlds, at sky ports, raft towns, and shipwreck towns. They are home to smugglers, pirates, crewmates, and captains. They may be part of the docks.

Designing Fictional Dock Networks
Overview
Fictional dock networks are often depicted as a series of raised walkways extending from the shore out into the nearby water. The docks themselves are often littered with crates and barrels of fish and trade goods. There may be fishing shacks or fish shambles in the adjacent area or collections of shipping containers.
Pier: A raised walkway extending over water, supported by pillars
Floating Dock: A jetty or pier that floats on pontoons
