Leviathan Territories
Leviathan territories are oceanic areas where a leviathan or great sea beast resides or roams. These may be hunting grounds, mating grounds, or dens. Leviathans may inhabit sea caves, oceanic trenches, lagoons, or other oceanic areas. Leviathans may be the reason for treacherous waters and there may be shipwreck graveyards at these areas. Leviathan territories are home to sea monsters, shipwreck survivors, and people that can talk to large squid.

Designing Fictional Leviathan Territories
When designing leviathan territories, consider the physiology and behavior of your leviathan. An ambush predator may seek out an underwater cave or kelp forest from which it can make an attack. If your leviathan is a peaceful plankton feeder, it may lazily roam looking for rich feeding grounds.
Leviathans are often depicted as residing in remote locations. However, if a fictional world features the sea creatures prominently, contact between these beasts and humankind is inevitable. Leviathan territories may be littered with shipwrecks (or even be a shipwreck graveyard), and survivors of encounters may live together in shipwreck towns or raft towns. On the edge of the territories, fishing villages may tell tales of close calls, and lighthouses may keep watch on the seas.

Leviathans may become highly aggressive if defending their young.

Consider the locations of leviathans and how they may impact trade routes.
