Great Halls

Great Halls

ELEMENT │ PLACE

Great halls are large central locations designed for study, dining, entertaining, or honoring esteemed visiting guests. Fictional great halls are often the heart of buildings and may be found at the center of castles, manors, old universities, or hillside burrows. They often contain fireplaces, mounted trophies, and perhaps the flags and banners of friends or other important factions.

Synonyms: great chambers
Example Mythonyms: Erlich Hall

Designing Fictional Great Halls

Fictional great halls are large communal spaces used for dining, entertaining, and large presentations. They often feature large fireplaces to warm the area and keep those inside comfortable during the winter months. Architecturally, rafters may be present, which can provide worldbuilders opportunity to explore a space perfect for eavesdropping or ambush.
