Chapels

Chapels

ELEMENT │ PLACE

Chapels are small churches or places of worship. These may be stand-alone building, or may be a single room contained within a larger structure. Fictional chapels are often places of healing, especially in game worlds where they may be sites where characters can rest and recover. Fictional chapels are home to priests and small, strange congregations with dark secrets.

Churches

Overview

Chapels are often little more than a single room with an altar and a few pews. There may be statues or shrines within and candles may be used to light up the space or as part of a ritual.

Fictional chapels are also commonly presented as a type of evil church, where cults perform evil rituals on a sacrificial altar. Chapels are also often depicted as belonging to a single family, and may be present within a castle, manor, or ancestral graveyard. They may be on hallowed ground.
