Hallowed Grounds

Hallowed Grounds

Hallowed grounds (synonyms: holy grounds, blessed earth, sacred lands; example toponyms: The Sacred Grounds of Overtree) are holy or blessed areas important to some religion. They may be the location of a temple, church, altar, graveyard or other religious structure or ruin. They may be areas that are off limits to the uninitiated or those not of a certain faith. Weapons or other items may be prohibited at these sites. In fantasy worlds, hallowed grounds may locations where the undead, demonic, or evil creatures cannot enter or cannot enter without immense harm befalling them.
