Megacity Vertical Corridors

Megacity Vertical Corridors

ELEMENT

Megacity vertical corridors are open vertical spaces that connect the surface of a megacity to its’ lower sublevels. These shafts may be sites of hoverlanes that allow for travel between levels. There may be platforms on each level for vehicles to land on, or hangers built into the side of the shaft. There may be bridge systems that span its’ distance. Gates may close off certain sections from vertical travel or seal the shaft off completely from the surface. Certain levels of the shaft may be closed for narrative reasons (quarantine, high crime, infestation, etc). There may be elevators or ventilation shafts along the central corridor wall.

The ascent or descent through a vertical corridor can be used as a narrative allegory.
