Great gates are massive gates, doors, or other entrances into a structure, city, or great wall. These may be sea gates or city gates. They may be built to allow armies or massive vehicles through. Or they may have been built simply to inspire awe in all who lay eyes on them and demonstrate the power and wealth of those that built them.

Designing Fictional Great Gates
Overview
When designing great gates consider the mechanism by which they are opened. They may have gatehouses in control of their state and watchtowers to look for incoming ships, people, or enemy forces. They may need great sources of power to control their movement.
Who is in charge of opening and closing the gate? Is there a key that must be used?
