Landing Pads
Landing pads are platforms or open areas onto which helicopters or other fictional aerial vehicles such as hovercars, airships, or spacecraft may land. Landing pads may be found on the tops of buildings, on large vehicles, at airship ports, or elsewhere. They may be situated near fuel depots to allow for easy refueling of the craft or repair garages so the craft can be maintained. Landing pads are home to pilots, mechanics, and stowaways.

Designing Fictional Landing Pads
When designing landing pads consider the markings and lights used. While helicopter landing pads often feature a large ‘H’ at their center, fictional worlds with fictional vehicles may have other markings. There may be lights that define the border of the landing pad, as well as indicate if it is in use or not. There may be straps, hooks, or other equipment to secure a craft to the ground once it is landed. There may also be covers, pop-out tents, or movable canopies to shelter a landed craft from the weather.
