Magical & Occult Symbols
Magical and occult symbols are symbols associated with spells, prophecies, cults, or other similar elements. They are meant to be cryptic and evocative, often written in a fictional ancient language. The symbols may glow to illustrate their innate power or be written in blood to reinforce darker tones or themes of sacrifice. These symbols are often found in spell books, written on the sides of obelisks and altars, or decorating the walls of cult lairs and wizard towers.

Designing Fictional Magic and Occult Symbols
Fictional magic or occult symbols are often designed to illicit an aura of mystery. Often they are not meant to be understood as thematically they represent forbidden or arcane knowledge knowable only to a few. As such, designers creating fictional magic or occult symbols often create symbols that feel full of purpose, but that elude understanding. This can be accomplished by incorporating familiar symbols such as crescent moons, pentagrams, and skulls, and using patterns, diagrams, or orientations that suggest intent.
These symbols may be an alphabet but often they are icons representative of concepts or objects important to the author or in some way powerful. These symbols may represent life & death, celestial objects like moons, or elements like fire, earth, and water.
