Attics
Attics are the top levels of houses. Fictional attics are often the sites of mysterious things – home to ghosts, places where treasure chests are stored under old furniture, or secret refuges where people are hidden from outside dangers. Fictional attics may be hidden rooms, or places where crates, old chests, and other discarded junk is heaped in labyrinthian piles. Attics are often unfinished, and may be little more than rafters.

Overview
Fictional attics mirror our fascination with the past, the unknown, and the potential for wonder hidden in the everyday. They serve as potent symbols of the power of memory and the hidden stories that linger within our homes and ourselves.
Fictional attics may be finished or unfinished. They may have rafters, they may be hidden rooms, they may have broken roofs. Attics are often used for storage and may contain old chests, furniture, and strange relics. They may connect to the vents, to crawlspaces, or to the outside rooftops. They may be reached by stairway or ladder. Attics are home to ghosts, possessed dolls, bats, and people in hiding. They may be haunted locations.
