Important Notes

Important Notes

ELEMENT

Important notes are written notes, journals, diaries, research papers, or other items that include critical (though occasionally enigmatic) clues to further a narrative, provide information about a trap or upcoming danger, or relay some other important information. Important notes are often used in both game worlds and narratives. They may be a critical part of a treasure hunt.

Synonyms: journals, diaries, code, research papers
Example Mythonyms: the Lost Journal of Dr. Jon Sterling

Designing Fictional Important Notes

When designing important notes, consider not only what information they contain, but also where they are found. Important notes may be discovered on skeletal remains, within an old chest, on a desk, or elsewhere.

Important notes may be written in another language or in a code to keep their contents secret.
