Endless Corridors

Endless Corridors

ELEMENT

Endless corridors are fictional hallways that stretch into infinity (either in appearance or in actuality). They are a feature of impossible architecture and are often found in haunted houses, haunted hotels, dream worlds, and magical labyrinths. They often have flickering lights illuminating their lengths. Endless corridors may be lined with rooms.

Synonyms: corridors without end
Example Mythonyms: the Backrooms, the North Halls

Overview

Fictional endless corridors are often designed to generate a feeling of unease. This tone is accomplished through repeating elements – doors, intersections, lights – all of which interfere with any firm sense of direction. These corridors may be a single long stretch of hallway, or may be a labyrinth of interconnected corridors. If the latter, these spaces often also contain dead ends, dark sections, and perhaps monsters.
