Canal Networks
Canal networks are a series of connected waterways allowing for the passage of boats and ships. A canal network may connect a port to a more to a more inland location and/or may provide an easy way of transiting a town or city. Canal networks may be combined with bridge systems to allow for land movement across the canals.

Designing Fictional Canal Networks
Overview
When designing canal networks consider the locations they interconnect and where the public can access the waterways. Determine how extensive the networks are, and if they are primarily for local travel within a location or between distant locations. There may be ferry routes.
