Mountain Valleys

Mountain Valleys

ELEMENT │ TERRAIN

Mountain valleys are a type of valley that exist high within a mountain range. Fictional valleys are an opportunity for worldbuilders to insert hidden valleys, lost civilizations, unknown mountain passes and hidden routes, or ruins from another age. Mountain valleys often contain rivers and lakes at their low point from rain and snowmelt. Travel into and out of valleys may be blocked by landslide, snow, and other bad weather.

Synonyms: basins, lowlands
Example Mythonyms: Valley of the Great Kings, Inscan Valley
