Mistlands & Foglands

Mistlands & Foglands

ELEMENT │ REGION & BIOME

Mistlands and foglands are fictional areas or regions which are covered by a perpetual or near perpetual mist or fog. They may be a type of wilds or wasteland. This mist may be magical in nature or may be a natural feature of the landscape. There may be beasts lurking in the mists, ruins scattered across the landscape, and areas where people are simply lost forever. The people here may use lighthouses or signal fires to help guide their way.

Synonyms: areas of perpetual fog
Example Mythonyms: the Sea of Mist, the Endless Fog

Designing Fictional Mistlands & Foglands

When designing mistlands consider how the people here survive without sun to grow food. There may be structures (natural or manmade) that rise above the mists. People may rely on air travel.
