They may be vertical farms or gardens.

Hydroponic farms and gardens may have automated lighting and watering systems. The lights they use produce a substantial amount of heat. They may be an opportunity to insert a fictional plant.

In science fiction worlds hydroponic gardens may be tended to by harvester robots or watering drones.
