Hydroelectric Dams

Hydroelectric Dams

ELEMENT │ PLACE

Hydroelectric dams are power plants that generate electricity using the force of water flowing through the dam to turn turbines. Fictional hydroelectric dams are often the sites of evil plots to destroy the dam and flood nearby towns or other areas. They may also be locations of secret labs, super-prisons, hidden government facilities, or evil lairs – buildings or structures that may require large amounts of power. In post-apocalyptic worlds they may be found in ruins (either collapsed, partially collapsed, or at risk of failing at any moment). Hydroelectric dams may connect to high voltage power lines.

Synonyms: dams
Example Mythonyms: the Wilder River Dam

Designing Fictional Hydroelectric Dams

Hydroelectric dams require the force of moving water to turn their turbines and generate power, so they will be found at an intersection between a reservoir or upper lake and a lower lake or lower river.
