Reservoirs

Reservoirs

ELEMENT │ PLACE

Reservoirs are enlarged artificial lakes generated by a dam or levee. Reservoirs often exist in a natural valley that completely or partially floods during the creation of the dam. Fictional reservoirs may contain submerged ruins hidden beneath the surface of their waters. Reservoirs also store water for the local community to use and their water levels will fluctuate depending on rainfall and water-use. They may have state parks, summer camps, and boat docks along their shores.

When designing reservoirs for fictional worlds, consider what the area was like before it was flooded.

Synonyms: basins, lakes
Example Mythonyms: Greenleaf Reservoir

What structures lay underneath the waters of your reservoir?
