Falling Floor Traps

Falling Floor Traps

ELEMENT

Falling floor traps are a type of fictional trap or trap room in which the entire floor or sections of the floor are meant to collapse. Fictional falling floor traps are usually designed in one of two ways: the entire floor collapsed once the trap has been triggered, or sections of the floor are meant to fall individually when stepped on. Below the floor may be a pitfall trap, creature pit, or endless chasm.

Collapsing Floors

Overview

Collapsing floor traps often feature some unique way for the safe portions to be discerned from the dangerous ones. This allows adventurers, or players in game worlds, to successfully identify the trap and attempt to navigate it. If sections of the floor are meant to give out individually, this trap may be paired with a puzzle, where symbols, letters, drawings, colors, or other markers indicate which spaces are safe or very much less safe to walk upon.
