Crater Lakes
Crater lakes are lakes formed in the cavity of a crater. Crater lakes, unlike crater seas, are entirely enclosed by land. There may be a central island of higher elevation formed by the impact. Fictional crater lakes may have waterfalls that feed them as rivers cascade down the mountains that surround them. If the crater was formed by a meteor which deposited some strange fictional material, there may be a mine on the central island and/or creatures within the lake may exhibit strange characteristics. The center island may be a holy place. Crater lakes are home to cryptids, fish, and fishermen.
