Cloud Kingdoms

Cloud Kingdoms

Cloud kingdoms (synonyms: cloud realms; example toponyms: The High Realms, Nimbus) are areas of magically inhabited ‘land’ high in the clouds. The clouds that comprise these domains, through some magical property usually not explained, can support the weight of creatures, people, and buildings. Cloud kingdoms are found in fantasy worlds, particularly fairy tale worlds. Cloud kingdoms may include castles and towers. They may have vines or beanstalks that allow for travel between the clouds and the lower world. Holes in the cloudscape may cause problems. They may be home to giants, air elementals, storm elements, angels, and spirits.

Cloud kingdoms are usually some type of kingdom, but this is not always the case.
