Clocktowers
Clocktowers are individual buildings (or a tower portion of a building or other structure) which contains a public clock. Fictional clocktowers are often the centerpieces of small towns, foggy London-esque cities, and college campuses. They may be broken for suspicious reasons and may be tracking something other than the correct time (perhaps counting down to some unknown event or keeping time for some other location or dimension). Clocktowers may be serving a similar role as bell towers.

Designing Fictional Clocktowers
Overview
When designing clocktowers consider how time is kept in your fictional world and if this is different from our real world. Also consider the inner mechanisms driving the movement of the clock and what powers the timepiece. Fictional clocktowers are often depicted with a room full of intricate clockwork machinery immediately behind the face of the clock.
Clocktowers are often used in villainous plots to countdown to a very bad event. Heroes may save the day ‘in the nick of time.’
