Border towns are towns that exist on a border or within borderlands. The town may be on one side of the border, or the actual borderline may divide the town itself. Fictional border towns may contain great walls, watchtowers, underground tunnels, and border checkpoints. The smuggling of items and people may occur at these sites and fictional border towns may have black markets where illegal goods, banned magic items, or stolen technologies may be found. Border towns are home to smugglers, town guards, and political refugees.
