Monster Lairs
Monster lairs are fictional locations where some great or minor fictional beast dwells. These may be great nests, cave systems, hunting grounds, or other areas. They may be home to great beasts, swarms, sleeping titans, or other creatures. Often fictional beast dens will have skeletons, bones, or blood decorating the ground and providing clues to adventurers that it may be better just to turn around and leave.

Overview
When designing monster lairs, consider the biology and ecology of the animal. Is it a lone hunter, or a pack animal? Is it carnivorous, or something else? And what is its’ prey? Is there sign left behind in the form of tracks, markings, scat, trophy kills, or other displays?

A den does not have to be a natural area, it could be the sewers, an abandoned building, or the warm engine room of a derelict spaceship.
