Wandering Buildings

Wandering Buildings

Wandering buildings are fictional structures that possess the ability to move from place to place. This mobility may be because they exist on the back of some great beast (snails and turtles are common), because they float (magically or through the use of technology) because they possess treads, wheels, legs, or other ambulatory systems, or because they teleport from place to place. While traveling buildings can be any type of structure, in fantasy worlds castles, cathedrals, cottages, and shops are common.

When designing wandering buildings, consider where they get the fuel necessary to move and if they leave tracks behind.

Synonyms: traveling buildings, moving buildings
Example Mythonyms: the Wandering Emporium
