The Solution is in the Appendix
One problem with fictional worlds is lore dumping. One solution to this is to keep lore that isn’t absolutely necessary somewhere else. Somewhere where it is accessible to those that look but does not clutter or interfere with a story being told. This is one possible solution to the problem of lore dumping. Examples of this approach include appendices or footnotes that detail the history of a world. Game worlds will often use notes or books which can be found within the game world that provide additional information about the setting. This information could also be found in encyclopedia entries available to the player or easily dismissible pop-up windows that are not required reading. This approach, making lore accessible for those that wish to delve into it but not a necessity to wade through, can help avoid the problem of lore dumping. It allows audiences to enjoy the lore of a world at their own pace.
