Kraken are a type of leviathan commonly depicted in fictional worlds. In general, these beasts are described as squid-like or octopus-like, with massive tentacles large enough to snap a ship in half and drag it to the bottom of the sea. They may reside in leviathan territories. Often space opera worlds will feature a space-faring version of the kraken, which may seek to ensnare entire spaceships.
