It’s Not a Problem if You Just Ignore It
Some things are better off just ignored. Why is there gravity on that derelict spaceship with no power? Why are there humans speaking English on that planet across the galaxy? Why are the elves of this fantasy world drinking champagne if champagne only comes from France? Sometimes it’s better to just ignore the problem. Not every issue needs to be addressed with detailed explanation. Small problems can at times be ignored in favor of advancing a plot, incorporating a cool new element to the world, or simply because solving the problem would be too big of a headache and not worth inventing an elven version of France.
Of course, while ignoring a problem may work for some minor inconsistencies some things are simply too big to ignore. Identifying problems that do cause significant issue is a skill that must be honed by experienced worldbuilders and will absolutely depend on the types of worlds being built. Worlds seeking utter realism, for example, are less forgiving when it comes to ignoring potential problems.
