CONCEPT
The act of providing an audience with an overwhelming amount of information pertaining to a fictional world. While this is often done to orient an audience by explaining relevant histories, factions, religions, etc. it often has the effect of making a work impenetrably dense. This can be exacerbated by the use of world-specific terminology. In general, worldbuilders should aim to “show, not tell” their worlds when presenting them to any audience.
