Debris fields are areas within space with an accumulation of junk, wreckage, and waste. They may be due to recent space battles. If in orbit around a planet, these debris fields may be Kessler belts. Debris fields may contain derelict ships, damaged ships and salvageable information and materials. There may be a salvage ship or salvage station nearby. They may be home to pirates, smugglers, and salvagers. They are likely difficult to navigate and may be a space opera version of the treacherous waters element.
