Common tongues are languages spoken by a wide variety of different groups, all of which may have their own languages. Common tongues often arise to facilitate trade and diplomacy between different factions. Fictional common tongues are often used to help solve the problem with fictional languages, especially in fantasy worlds where a large number of different kinds of sentient creatures exist.
