Bottomless Pits

Bottomless pits (synonyms: endless pits; example toponyms: the Pit, Gale’s Maw) are holes or chasms in the ground that either go to extreme depths or are without end. They may act as a portal and lead to another realm (spirit worlds, hell, or other locations are a possibility. Bottomless pits may be used for sacrificial purposes.
