Designing Fictional Assassinations
Overview
When worldbuilding an assassination, consider the status of the victim, the motivations of the perpetrator(s), and the political fallout from the act itself. Assassinations may be celebrated, may be condemned, may lead to a period of mourning, or may lead to a war.
Assassinations are often used in game-oriented worlds, where players may seek to prevent an assassination, play an active role in an assassination, or solve a mystery involving an assassinated person.
Assassination plots may be a comedy of errors, or may be highly involved and detailed affairs.
