Airfields

Airfields

Airfields (synonyms: airstrips, landing strips; example toponyms: New Oregon Airfield) are locations where planes, helicopters, or fictional aerial vehicles may land. They are similar to airports but are smaller and less frequently used. Airfields may be located near battlefields, near research stations, on mountaintops, on small islands, or in other remote or hard to reach locations. They may contain control towers and hangars. Airfields are home to pilots and mechanics.
